Turtle Observation Night Tour

After being picked up from your hotel, we’ll take you to a beach in the Samara area to observe turtles laying their eggs. Depending on the season, we will take you to either the Camaronal beach or Ostional beach. This phenomenon is truly amazing and only occurs in seven areas of the world. By being a part of this tour, you are not only witnessing something beautiful: you will be helping to defend these endangered species by scaring away predators from eating their eggs and babies especially during this potentially vulnerable stage of their lives. Camaronal and Ostional beaches are the nesting sites for three of the seven species of sea turtles in the world: the Leatherback, Olive Ridley and Black Hawksbill.

These turtles are still on the endangered species list, but the chances are very good that you'll see at least one of these fascinating creatures when they come to shore and lay their eggs during this guided walk along the beach.

The best place to visit Ostional Beach is during an “arribada” - a phenomenon where hundreds, and often times thousands of turtles congregate to lay their eggs. These generally occur at the beginning of the last quarter of the moon, usually once a month between July and December. After some time on the beach with your guide and the turtles, relax in our vans while being transported back to your hotel.
